IA Labs at TechConnect, Business Beyond Borders & the Diversity in Tech Awards 2022

IA Labs team speaking to visitors at TechConnect

This month, IA Labs was given the incredible opportunity to attend several events in the RDS centre. After exhibiting at Dublin Tech Summit earlier in June, we were excited to once again showcase our skills and knowledge on digital accessibility and inclusion. The reoccurring question was “how do organisations become WCAG 2.1 compliant”, which the team were more than happy to answer.

TechConnect Live, held on 13th September 2022, is Ireland’s largest annual business and technology exhibition for SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises). It attracts over 5,000 visitors and 130 exhibitors every year. IA Labs received huge footfall at our booth and spoke to many business owners, entrepreneurs, and managers about the work we do in making the digital world more inclusive of people with disabilities.

The event also featured a line-up of special speakers, including IA Labs’ Accessibility Consultant and NCBI Program Manager Sean Doran, who was invited to guest at the Diversity in STEM panel on the main stage. Sean lent his advice about how to get more people with disabilities working in STEM to a very interested audience.

The IA Labs team returned to the RDS the next day to attend Business Beyond Borders. This conference, which is also aimed at SMEs, is a one-day event inviting industry leaders to speak about the advantages of digital business.

The highlight of the day was our Founder and Director featuring in one of the digitisation sessions; he shared his experiences and talked about how he and IA Labs are now helping businesses and public organisations to drive change and make their digital content more accessible. On the stage, Kyran O’Mahoney said, “Inclusion is not an expense. It’s the right thing to do.”

On 21st September, we were invited to attend the Diversity in Tech Awards, which celebrates women and diversity in the tech industry. IA Labs was named as finalists for Disability Inclusion; our QA and Customer Success Lead Adela Buliman for Rising Star; Kyran O’Mahoney for Diversity Role Model on behalf of NCBI. Although we didn’t win on the night, we were honoured to be recognised for our work and be shortlisted in the same category as so many others striving to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace.

Conclusion

IA Labs would also like to congratulate NCBI for winning Digital Transformation 2022 at the Charity Excellence Awards on 15th September.

The team are already looking forward to attending many more award ceremonies and technology and business events in the near future, where we can continue sharing our knowledge on how to make the web truly worldwide. If you would like to get in touch after meeting us at the RDS or if you need help with any digital accessibility issue, please don’t hesitate to contact IA Labs.
