In Ireland, we have numerous bodies with various responsibilities and powers, all of which are intended to deliver safe and efficient services to us. These are the regulators and the ombudsmen, yet they continue to fail the 600,000 people who make up the disability community of Ireland.
June is Pride Month and Pride Month is in honor of the Stonewall Uprising in 1969. To show support and give credit to such a important day for equality, IA Labs have changed their logo to incorporate the progressive pride flag.
Access to education is a fundamental right for everyone in Ireland. However, in 2016, the national census showed that only 13% of people in Ireland with a disability were in education. Of these, only 20% completed higher level education.
Back in 2009 when Apple launched the iPhone 3GS, they also unveiled their accessibility features. This iOS release in 2009 was the start of Apple’s mobile accessibility journey which allowed people with sight loss to interact with touch screen devices.
