Accessibility Statements

An accessibility statement showcases an organisation’s commitment to digital inclusion, but it also provides users with insights into the accessibility features and limitations of a digital platform. A statement typically contains the following information:

  1. The accessibility standards or guidelines followed by the organisation, such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) or other relevant legal requirements.
  2. The current level of compliance of the organisation’s platform with specified accessibility standards.
  3. The accessibility features and functionalities integrated into the digital content or services. This may include information about alternative text for images, support for keyboard navigation, video captions, and other accessibility enhancements.
  4. Any known limitations or barriers to accessibility within the digital content or services. A statement can also provide alternative methods for accessing contents.
  5. Clear instructions for users to report issues or provide feedback, including contact information or a designated process through which users can seek support or assistance related to accessibility concerns.
  6. The organisation commits to regularly reviewing and updating the statement to reflect any changes in their accessibility efforts or improvements made to their content or services. It includes the date of the most recent update to the accessibility statement.

By having an accessibility statement in place, organisations increase trust, encourage user feedback, and reinforce their dedication to ensuring equal access for all individuals, including those with disabilities.
